Regardless if you are a frequent traveller or not, I think that a luxury boutique hotel design scheme is always so dreamy. That feeling of fresh linens and luxurious towels in your bathroom, the soft rug under your feet, the lights always creating cozy atmospheres, the breakfast in bed. These are all things and emotions that we can still celebrate every day, at our home.
Personally, I could totally see myself in one of those rooms , and this is why I would love to give you some tips and ideas to create this luxury boutique hotel style at home.

To start with, it is very crucial to have a headboard in your bedroom. It can be any style you want, with buttons or without, however the higher the better. Here above, super start interior designer, Kit Kemp, likes to create an eye-catcher point with her headboards, always upholstered in a colourful pattern that reflects the overall palette of her signature suites. I think, this is strategically thought for the branding of the hotels chain (of which she is co-founder) so if you are not comfortable with so many colours and patterns, it is absolutely fine to use a more plain fabric. If you would like to try something similar, you may be interested in reading one of my previous blog post about colours and patterns.

As per the luxurious bedding, choose bed linens in Egyptian cotton and satin as I know, thanks to my experience in the hospitality, that these are the linens used by the majority of luxury hotels. My absolutely favourite brands are: the White Company, The Fine Cotton Company and Ralph Lauren Home. They have many incredible collections to choose from, so check the link I have put here (these are not affiliates links).

One bedroom flat in London with bespoke upholstered storage bench
At the end of the bed, if you have space, add an upholster padded bench or a little couch. The bench can be cleverly turned into a storage place, as we did in one of our project in central London. It was a very small flat that the owner wanted to rent out, so the brief was to keep a very neutral palette and create extra storage space, whether it was possible.

Hang your curtains very high if you can, to enhance the hight of the ceiling and to be able to pick a larger pattern in your curtains. It would be perfect if the curtains reflect one of the main colour of the palette, together with, the decorative cushions on the bed and the headboard. These are the main points of attraction of our sight when entering the room, therefore they should be the most visible as well.

If you like carpets all the way on the floor in the entire room, then go for it. Otherwise, if you have a nice wooden floor that you wish to show, use a large rug that will go underneath the bed, the bedside tables and the seating bench.

Regarding the en suite bathroom, I would say, nothing can beat Italian marble from Carrara for a luxury hotel style. The whole bathroom with just one piece of marble colour, can be really stunning, but obviously it is a bit pricy. Mix it with other materials and keep the marble on the counter table of the basins, perhaps, or around the mirrors for that "wow" factor.
