In these weeks, many of us found themselves in lockdown due to the coronavirus and like me, many are working from home. Perhaps you had already a home office station and now you have to share it with your partner, or you never had it before. You may now find yourself rushing into buying furniture that you don't know if they will fit together, because this is an emergency and you weren't prepared for it. This doesn't mean that you can't still have a nice solution for your home office, something that can be durable in time. Like experts say, we don't know how long the lockdown can be and if the virus can return. Therefore, I pulled together four furniture boards with essential elements for a small, practical and cozy home office that you can quickly get into your home. The boards are in slightly different styles, all very sleek, airy and with a colour palette fairly neutral. My idea of a home office is that it should be a complement to your home, if it is located in the living room or in your bedroom, it should not be the main focus. If you are lucky to have an independent room, you can really study a colour palette that can go over to the walls, curtains and flooring as well. Find inspiration from my boards and get the look of your favourite/s one/s! Board 1 - Scandi ChicTimeless home office in a Scandinavian Chic look featuring textures and design in a neutral palette of camel, oak wood, brown and black. This solution blends perfectly into your existing aesthetic yet also brings its own character. Details are in steel for a sleek and minimalist touch.
Board 2 - Classic LuxWith these furniture your home office will be elegant, sophisticated and warm. The materials are wood in a rich and warm walnut finish, leather and brass metal. It suits magnificently a classic contemporary home. If you wish to get this look in the rest of your house too, you can find a guide I wrote here.
Board 3 - Natural SimplicityA beautiful home office idea with simple natural finishes and a generous wall-hung bookcase that will allow plenty of space for your books, decorative plants, vases, candles, etc. You can incorporate into your room even more plants, and enjoy all the beneficial properties that indoor plants have for your breathable air. It is proven that a closer contact to nature facilitates our relaxation as we breath fresher air. If you have missed my blog post about decorating with plants, you can read it here.
Board 4 - Funky pop of coloursA funky and timeless style for your home office with a pop of bright colours such as mustard yellow and lime green. If you are looking for a cheerful scheme of colours and patterns that will brighten up perhaps a small, dark room, this combination will perfectly suit you. An excellent choice also for a more creative worker.
I hope you find some inspiration for you home office, you can mix elements from different boards if you would like. I think each board suits any aesthetic you have already in your interiors, yet adding character and a cozy feeling.
