The living room featuring cushions in velvet from Chhatwal & Jonsson

This Christmas 2019 has just passed and I am starting to mentally prepare for the new year ahead. It has been a calm and cozy Christmas in our flat in Stockholm. Unfortunately my family could not join us, however I will visit them in Padova very soon. With this blog post, I would like to show you how I styled my flat for Christmas. I really enjoyed it this year and I have chosen the typical palette of red, green, white and rust with accessories in brass finish. I hope you will like my flat and that it will inspire you for next Christmas.

I bought the five cushion covers from one of my favourite supplier Chhatwal & Jonsson. I chose all of them in velvet for the winter time. I think velvet makes it all very cozy and they are so soft to touch. Their quality is really remarkable. The gorgeous reindeer cushion makes me feel like in a mountain chalet every day, I really love them!

Close up to the coffee tables with my hyacinth arrangement

On the coffee tables I used one of the hyacinth flowers arrangement I made. You can read the process to create them in one of my previous blog post here.
The beautiful round candle in a red metal finish added such a lovely touch onto the dark table surface. You can find this type of candles and many more at one of their reseller, Candle Room whom does international shipments too.

Tealight holders "Clover" in brass finish from Svenskt Tenn

The tealight holders in brass finish from Svenskt Tenn added such a glorious touch of Christmas. They really fit well with the candlestand I already had from Hilke Collection. I added a small Christmas star flower to match with the round candle and to add a red object to this area of the living room.

We don't have so much space in our small flat, therefore every year we use the Monstera plant as Christmas Tree and we put underneath our presents. I actually like more this tropical plant than the real pine tree...less to clean up when the pine gets dry. I also have colour palette for my gifts wrapping, this year it was gold and green with a touch or red. Can you spot which presents I wrapped underneath the Monstera?

Christmas centre table composition

To create the centre table composition, I visited my local florist and bought pine leaves, holly without spikes, pinecones, dried oranges, dried apple with glitters and cinnamon sticks. I just put them around the flower arrangement I did and two long candles. Starting from the pine leaves as base, I added the holly then the pine cones and finally the smaller objects. You can decide according to your taste, how much pine or holly you wish to have.

Porcelain dining plate from Mateus with napkin decoration

To decorate the porcelain dining plates from Mateus, I used some of the pine and holly inside the napkin rings in a brass finish. The rings matched with the candleholders and hopefully next year Santa will be so kind to give me fresh new cutlery in brass finish. It would have been the perfect final touch. Don't you agree?

I am pleased with the decorations this year and very satisfied for all the hand made ornaments. It is really fun to make something with your hands rather than buy everything already done in a store. I prefer to select small things and pull them together and see what it will become. I hope next year to do even more and to keep sharing with you my ideas. I hope you all had a lovely Christmas holiday full of laugher and joy.

If you don't follow my Instagram profile, I take this opportunity to wish you a Happy New Year with many more blog posts to read from me!
