Crisp mornings, shorter days and yellow leaves falling from the trees call for autumn; the season were it is mandatory to lit candles, sip endless cups of hot tea and cuddle in bed under the warm blankets. I am sure that for many of you, like me, are already a bit nostalgic of the long daylight of summer days. Nevertheless, we can try to enjoy this new of season as best as we can. Personally, I enjoy cooking anything with the local Swedish mushrooms called "kantarelli", creamy risotto, pasta sauce, with toasted bread...you name it! Secondly, of course, I enjoy decorating our apartment with the autumn colours, so I change the cushion covers, the tablecloth and the bed linens. They are small budget-friendly changes but if you would like to change more, I hope you will like the mood boards that I have pulled together and that you will find the following steps useful to identify your style.
First of all, begin choosing five colours you love for your palette. You can pick one the combination that I have selected here, or you can create your own. The most important it is that you keep a maximum of six colours in total. Which tone the colours will have is up to you, so how dark or bright each colour can be. There are different versions of the typical autumn palette, although, they all have something in common. Some palettes will start from dark colours like black, antracit grey or chocolate brown together with burgundy red, deep orange and olive green. On the contraty, if you want to keep the bedroom still bright and airy, you can use terracotta red, cognac, cinnamon, deep orange or my favourite mustard yellow. Add an olive or forest green or taupe and beige colours if you wanna obtain a brighter result, especially recommended for smaller spaces. Any combination you will choose, it is correct as long as you love it! There is no right or wrong! Autumn colours are all very beautiful and catchy, perfect to transform any environment in a cozy and warm place.

This minimalist autumn style mood board is inspired by the colours of nature in this season, with natural textiles and very budget-friendly. Starting from a deep chocolate brown that you can use, for example, in the decorative cushions leaning against the headboard, you can walk your way up to lighter colours with cognac bed linen sheets, ending with a cream bed throw. Over the decorative chocolate brown cushions you can add your sleeping cushions in the same cream colour as the bed throw and end with a pair of 50x50 cm velvet cushion in cognac or beige tone and finally one 40x60cm lumbar cushion. The soft wool rug in pebble colour will add some coziness to your bedroom and for a more natural touch you can add a pendant light made in sustainable bamboo. Did you know that bamboo grow extremely fast and organically? It is actually always a great choice to protect the future of our planet. I will talk in a future article about what choices we have in term of sustainable interiors for our houses.

If you would like a palette that is less dark with a pop of bright autumn colours, you can skip the chocolate brown and start directly with the cactus green and cognac, and add camel or beige colours and finally olive green and masala yellow. This is a very happy combination which I truly love. Pare it with oak furniture and natural finishes for a really gorgeous and cozy bedroom.

Finally, a mood board for a more traditional and timeless bedroom that can suit other season styling too, all year long. You can start with cacao brown, cinnamon and cognac for a very formal feeling and brighten up the bedroom with sand beige, silver grey or soft white tones. This style is perfect if you don't dare trying with pop of colours but still, you don't want to have a monochromatic bedroom. Personally, I find this combination very stylish and super elegant, something that will wow all your visitors. It is perfect also if you have a guests' bedroom.

I hope you found these simple tips inspiring and useful to decorate your bedroom with cozy autumn colours. The combinations available and the furnishing are endless. I tried to keep my choice towards affordable brands because I believe that everyone should have a nice and comfortable bedroom we love, no matter what the budget is.
